I am a huge fan of music and of music known as avant garde jazz in particular. I also like music known as down tempo, trip hop, reggae and hip-hop. However, because there are a few people who are hording some of the best music and failing/refusing to release or offer distribution of a wider selection of the best music; we as a society tend to be at a loss for good music.
The music known as jazz music is sometimes called American classical music. Avant Garde is the best of this. If you disagree, you just don't get it. Anyway, in honor of the creation of this blog, I will be sharing some hard to find, especially where I am, Sun-Ra. I will also be blasting it from my balcony top to commemorate. All respect due to Sun-Ra and the Arkestra!
If you own the copyright to any work I list on this site, please let me know and I will remove it. If you love the music, like I do, buy it. Find an original when you can. I own a vinyl copies of most of the major work here and appreciate those who have provided digital copies. Most of these are available other place and may not be original copies. My wax is a few thousand miles away right now. I am offering these as a repository because sometimes things end up going missing in one place and popping up somewhere else. I will at some point release a full listing of sites that deserve proper respect.
Insofar as the musicians, I ain't got no damn money, but I suspect they ain't floating around rich somewhere either. So if any of you guys read the post and want to come to Egypt, I can find you a flat here while I am here for next to nothing, or I will even pay for your flat in Luxor to come here and chill out for a few months if you pay for your own airfare. That is the best I can do, other than that tell me to take the links down, if you want and I will. Much respect. Thank you for the music.
